Veneers that keep your teeth healthy near Santa Monica, CA

Healthy enamel is worth protecting. Once it’s ground away it never grows back, and teeth that have been cut down for traditional veneers can become sensitive or need more dental work later.

No prep porcelain skips that step for most people. About 85% of Dr. Perkins’ veneer patients need no shaving at all, and enamel is also the best surface for a veneer to bond to. You get the smile you want with your natural teeth still underneath.

Dr. Perkins looks past the teeth too. The Health Nexus, the book Dr. Perkins wrote, explains how breathing and jaw position shape the face as it grows, and why that matters for a smile that looks and feels right. Read about Facial Driven Dentistry.

Dr. Perkins has practiced dentistry for more than 20 years, and our Malibu office opened in 2008. Meet Dr. Perkins.

Younger-looking smiles and easier breathing without surgery

Dr. Perkins walks through two cases: an anti-aging smile and a young patient’s jaw and airway.

Enamel kept for life

Most patients keep every bit of their natural enamel, which stays the strongest base a veneer can have.

Looks like real enamel

Dr. Perkins picks translucent porcelain, which lets light through the way natural enamel does.

About 26 minutes up the coast

From Santa Monica City Hall it’s roughly 14 miles to the office, almost all of it on Pacific Coast Highway.

Treatments for Santa Monica, CA patients

Most of what Dr. Perkins does comes down to two treatments. Veneers change how your teeth look. JawAlign™ changes where your jaw sits. Many patients get both.

Veneers and JawAlign™ together

When the jaw sits too far back or the bite has collapsed, new teeth alone can’t fix the look. Dr. Perkins moves the jaw first with JawAlign™, then places the veneers. We call this Facial Driven Dentistry™.

Patients Testimonials

The most professional and pristine place I have ever been to! Dr perkins transformed my smile in such a way that even my close friends can’t see what I had done but they are all guessing I had some cosmetic surgery! I look amazingly different and I had no idea that your whole face structure could be changed by changing your bite and realigning your jaw! I couldn’t be happier and I might add that Dr Perkins is probably the nicest and most caring and meticulous dentist on this planet!

I’ve seen over 10 specialists for my TMJ that I’ve had for many years. Dr. Perkins is the first and only specialist who is able to not only get rid of my chronic headaches for over 20 years but I also did a magnificent job with veneers to give me that smile I’ve always been wanting. He’s very personable and super easy to get along with. Staff is very friendly and the location is perfect. I highly recommend him for all of your Dental needs!

Dimitry B.

I am very happy that I met Dr. Perkins when I did! He’s given me a beautiful smile. I had a couple of consultation before meeting Dr. Perkins and I wasn’t sold on any of treatment plans I had been presented. As soon as I met Dr. Perkins, he came up with a great treatment plan that was able to work around my busy schedule. His office is beautiful and welcoming as well!

Do veneers protect your teeth?

Not really, and Dr. Perkins won’t claim they do. Decay can’t get through the porcelain itself, but the tooth around it still needs brushing, flossing and checkups like any other tooth.

How thick are porcelain veneers?

About half a millimeter, roughly the thickness of a contact lens. That’s why they can often bond right onto your teeth without any shaving.

Why does keeping my enamel matter?

Enamel doesn’t grow back. Grinding it away for traditional veneers can lead to sensitivity, root canals and more dental work down the road. Keeping it also gives the porcelain the best surface to bond to.

Can veneers help with breathing?

Veneers alone don’t, since they only change the teeth. Breathing has more to do with the jaw and airway. In some patients Dr. Perkins has widened the upper arch and brought the lower jaw forward without surgery, and they could breathe through the nose more easily. Results vary.

Which veneers look most fake?

Opaque ones. Natural enamel lets some light through, like glass. Veneers made without that translucency look flat and fake, which is why Dr. Perkins chooses porcelain that lets light through.

How do you take care of porcelain veneers?

The same way you care for your natural teeth: brush, floss and keep your regular cleanings. Porcelain doesn’t stain, so coffee and red wine won’t discolor the veneers themselves.

Which country is best for cosmetic dentistry?

Dr. Perkins doesn’t rank countries. Wherever you go, ask whether healthy teeth will be ground down, since that can’t be undone, and think about follow-up visits, which are much harder from overseas.
