Proper Facial Proportions
Proper Facial proportions are important to proper breathing, prevention of TMJ problems, and proper esthetics.
Facial proportions are very influenced by developmental and environmental factors. If you are a chronic mouth breather than you will be much more likely to have a retruded lower jaw and an overbite. When you have an overbite you run a much higher risk of TMJ issues. Chronic mouth breathing brings your lower jaw back and that means that your bite will be more retruded than it should be. No person’s bite should force muscles to overwork. We can alter your bite comfortably to bring about improved facial proportions.
